Traveling with your pet has never been easier, thanks to the Diggs Passenger Travel Carrier

Lily Feinn

There are a ton of pet carriers out there, but finding the right one for long trips can be tricky because there’s so much to consider.

If you need to jump on a flight, can you use it to carry your BFF? What happens if she has an accident? Will it protect her on the road?

That’s why we were delighted to test the Diggs Passenger Travel Carrier, as it’s designed with airline requirements, waste management and your pet’s safety in mind.

Our pet parent reviewer has been using the same soft carrier since her dog was just a pup, but after testing the Diggs Passenger Travel Carrier she thinks it’s an upgrade total – and that’s why we’re giving it our official thumbs up.

Why we love it:

It’s the perfect size for travel, but there’s still plenty of room for your BFF to be comfortable when inside.

What is the Diggs Passenger Travel Carrier?

The Diggs Passenger Travel Carrier is a luxury pet carrier that meets most airline requirements.

At 20 inches long, 10.8 inches wide, and 11.5 inches high, this carrier is compact enough to fit under the airplane seat in front of you without your pet feeling cramped.

The Diggs Passenger Travel Carrier is also designed to make clearing up any mishaps mid-journey easier and faster.

Your pet’s safety was also a priority when creating this carrier – it has undergone extensive crash testing and received five stars from the Center for Pet Safety. It has seat belt clips, a buckle strap and a collar attachment clip to keep your pet safe inside even when the bag is open.

There are also a bunch of handy features, like a detachable shoulder strap, a D-clip to store your keys, and three different pockets.

The bag itself weighs 4.5 pounds and is designed to hold pets up to 18 pounds. It is available in four colors: anthracite, navy blue, slate (gray) and blush.

In addition to the bag itself, the Diggs Passenger Travel Carrier also includes a pet bed and pee pad.

How does the Diggs Passenger Travel Carrier handle accidents related to cleanliness?

Dealing with an accident your BFF may have on the road is quite easy, since the Diggs Passenger Travel Carrier is designed with potential potty issues in mind.

To install, simply attach a pee pad to the bed by tucking it into the sides (Diggs pee pads are designed to fit the dimensions of the bed if you don’t want to have to cut a larger pee pad to size) .

After an accident, you can remove the bed from the stand through the side panel. From there, just throw away the used pillow, attach a new one, and put the bed back in the bag.

How much does it cost?

Other airline-approved pet carriers vary in cost, ranging from around $20 to $150.

The Diggs Passenger Travel Carrier is definitely more of a splurge than its competitors, for $225.

Our review

We chose a Dodo dog to test the Diggs Passenger Travel Carrier over a long 15-hour trip that included time in a car, on the subway, and on a train.

“She’s a very good, calm traveler, but I want to make sure she’s comfortable on our trips and that I’m comfortable carrying her 14 pounds.” — his mother, Lily Feinn

Benefits of Diggs Passenger Travel Carrier

There are a lot of things we love about the Diggs Passenger Travel Carrier.

Our pup was super comfortable in the carrier

“She seemed to like the fuzzy cushion at the bottom and being able to see me through the mesh panels — which also helped her stay cool,” Feinn told The Dodo. “She also liked being able to stick her head out the top when I unzipped her.”

It’s a good size for traveling

“On the train and the subway, it fits perfectly over or under the seats,” Feinn said. “Although the bag was compact, Darcy had enough room to lie down, rest and snuggle up.”

It is designed to keep your pup safe on the go

“It has everything I loved about my old carrier, but with thicker, more durable material and LOTS more safety features,” Feinn said. “Loved that you can attach it with the car’s seat belt for maximum safety.”

Wearing it is no problem

“I loved the straps on the side that allowed the bag to slide over the handles of my rolling suitcase, so I didn’t have to carry it over my shoulder,” Feinn said. “The bag was well balanced, so it was easy to carry around while I was battling through the crowds at Grand Central Terminal.”

It’s as stylish as it is functional

“It’s an attractive bag with a clean design, and they’ve packed a lot of safety and utility features into a small package,” Feinn said.

It is an efficient design for long journeys

“While Darcy hasn’t had an accident using the bag, I’m confident that if she goes I’ll be able to clean it easily, making it a good bag for long flights,” Feinn said.

Disadvantages of Diggs Passenger Carrier

Feinn loved this bag so much that she could think of only one downside: the price.

It’s madness

“At $225, it’s definitely near the top of the pet bag market,” Feinn said.

Is it worth it?

Although priced high, our reviewer thought the cost of the Diggs Passenger Travel Carrier made sense for pet parents who are often on the road.

“If you travel a lot with your cat or dog, I think it’s worth the investment,” Feinn said.

After all, its convenient size and waste management design make it ideal for long trips. And because there are so many safety features, you’ll have peace of mind when taking your best friend with you.
