Business Travel News Tuesday night at the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina recognized Visa’s Senior Director of Global Sourcing Kim Hammer as Travel Manager of the Year 2022.

Hamer was chosen by BTN editors from nominations submitted by the industry.

BTN’s Editorial Director, Elizabeth West, announced the winner as well as BTN’s top three practitioners of 2022: Siemens’ Emma EatonEstee Lauder Cos.’ Jami Stapelmann and Takeda faye zeidlack.

Starting from a place of creating a human-centric business travel experience, Hamer started with a booking tool offering that would realize his vision. She eventually contracted with Serko, which was slightly off the beaten path for a major global company, but which she believed would be a collaborative partner to move her agenda forward in the future.

Hamer expanded the collaboration group to its anchor agency CWT and United Airlines to channel, display, book and provide service for a large-scale NDC channel. It undertakes to pursue similar collaborations with other airlines. For now, she is playing with United on shared retail targets.

It creates Visa-specific NDC packages with the airline that consider cost, value and experience based on the status of the individual traveler. Seat selection, upgrades, lounge access, baggage—all items that used to be hard to reach and time-consuming for spending and reporting—are now delivered and processed through its agency channel and its online booking tool.

BTN also recognized its 2022 Top Practitioners on Tuesday. Each was recognized for excellence in a single practice within its overall program.

She is widely recognized among her peers as an industry leader who has inspired groups of travel buyers to pursue similar efforts within their own businesses at the local level, with a simple message that the practices of purchasing business travel can “reimburse” communities and buyers. themselves can do their part to make the world a better place.

BTN named Jami Stapelmann 2022 Best Practitioner for her partnering strategies that connect businesses with Estee Lauder beyond their shared travel concerns. In making strategic opportunity introductions, Stapelmann initiated a work to place Estee Lauder products among the company’s favorite airline inflight amenities; identified shared wellness goals that prompted an airline to include wellness programming in its inflight entertainment; and promoted shared sustainability goals that helped Estee Lauder overcome the challenges of the travel partnership. Stapelmann is a prime example of how travel and meeting buyers can participate in the success of their business at the most strategic levels by identifying and connecting interests that create holistic partnerships.

Faye Zeidlhack, Global Head of Travel, Takeda

BTN named Faye Zeidlhack a 2022 Best Practitioner for her work with BCD Travel’s Life Sciences Center of Excellence to drive and shape its patient travel offering. Zeidlhack has used its business travel expertise to ensure that the processes and services involved in managing patient travel for clinical trials and other patient-centric initiatives match the real needs of the pharmaceutical industry. . His work has also paved the way for peer companies. Zeidlhack has been recognized internally with a Takeda Excellence Award.
